Customer Engagement Specialist - Marton, Nr Rugby

Location: Marton, Nr Rugby

Salary: £25 000 - £31 000 per annum, plus commission

Role:

This is an extremely varied and interesting role where you will get the opportunity to learn about and work in all departments within the company, with your main focus being customer engagement: effectively informing and advising customers.

In order to be able to advise customers from a place of knowledge, you will learn the Lawn Care Technician field role. This involves visiting customer properties with a Senior Lawn Technician to learn how to apply fertilisers, weed killers, moss treatments, and how to renovate a lawn. You will also receive training on customer services, sales and financial accounting in order to effectively use the IT systems associated with customer engagement. This well-rounded training program is aimed at providing you with the skills and knowledge to effectively advise new, existing, and potential customers on TopGrass services.

You will also provide support and cover for the Lawn Technician and Customer Service Teams where required.

The role is primarily based in the Head Office at Marton (nr Rugby), apart from the time spent visiting customer properties for technical training and when carrying out Lawn Care Technician cover. You would be working very closely alongside a team of around 10 other office personnel, based in sales, accounts, marketing, customer services, and customer engagement. You would also be liaising with 20 field technicians who work independently in the Southeast and Midlands areas, which will require the successful candidate to have good communication and team-building skills. We also have regular work-based competitions with prizes and even some table football tournaments for a bit of light relief and team-building!

Required skills:

  • Very good computer skills in order to use the CRM (customer relation management) software which is used in customer services, customer engagement and an app version of the software is used by the Lawn Technicians.

  • Professional, customer-focused interpersonal skills for face-to-face and phone interactions with customers.

  • Very good organisational, prioritisation, and attention to detail skills are essential in order to keep track of your tasks within the team and with the customers that you are assisting and advising. You will be liaising with customers and colleagues via text, email, and phone to deliver high-quality and timely service.

  • Good level of literacy and numeracy to carry out these day-to-day tasks - must have GCSE English and Maths or equivalent.

  • A degree qualification is preferred but not essential.

Lawn Care Technician - Nazeing, Essex

Location: Nazeing, Essex

Salary: £26 000 - £32 000 per annum, plus commission

Role:

As a TopGrass Lawn Technician, you would visit between 10-25 customer properties each day (depending on lawn sizes), expertly applying fertilisers, moss treatments, and weed treatments to customer lawns. You would also be responsible for carrying out renovation work: scarification, aeration, and lawn seeding. This would involve you being trained to expertly handle high-quality lawn renovation machinery to achieve the best results for your customers.

TopGrass will offer you high-quality, thorough, and effective training, developing you, over time, to be a specialist in the professional field of Lawn Care. Previous lawn care knowledge is not required for the role as we will train you in this field.

You would be the face of the company, meeting with the customers, providing problem-solving assistance through professional, scientific, expert advice on all lawn care related matters, recommending additional services where needed and relevant.

Doing the best for our customers is really important to us as a family-run business, which is why you would be assigned a set number of customers, aiming to be their sole technician visiting your customers for each of their treatments, 5+ times a year.

Getting to know your customers, building trust, and good rapport with them will ensure great job satisfaction, as you see the visible difference you are making to their green space. During the COVID19 pandemic, we have had many customers personally thank our technicians and office representatives for the excellent work they have done in continuing to provide a great outdoor space for them when they could not venture elsewhere, whilst at the same time keeping all our employees and customers safe through our rigorous covid19 control measures.

Another aspect of the role is to visit potential new customers, offering advice on the services that Topgrass can provide them and so begin to develop the TopGrass-customer relationship: one of a partnership providing expert lawn care advice and tips to the customer in order to begin the journey of achieving a beautiful lush green lawn.

You would largely manage your own day, while having the support of the office team back at the head office, ready to assist you where needed.

Once you are fully trained in TopGrass procedures, you would be assigned your own van and equipment which allows you to commute on most days directly to your customer properties from home, coming back into the depot 2-3 times a week to pick up products, carry out van checks and attend any team or individual meetings.

Required skills:

  • Professional, customer-focused interpersonal skills for face-to-face and phone interactions with customers.

  • Able to prioritise and organise, with good attention to detail. You must be able to keep track of your daily tasks and manage your own daily workload as well liaising with the office team for any customer requests/questions.

  • Ability to work well in a team

  • Good communication skills, liaising with the office team to problem solve and provide excellent customer service.

  • GCSE English and Maths or equivalent.

Preferred Skills

  • Qualified to NTPC levels PA1 and PA6a is preferable but not essential - the company will pay for this training and qualification if you do not have it already.
